Congress is eyeing cuts to a variety of social services programs. What does this mean for aging services programs in New York?
Join us for Life Happens Radio as host Lou Pierro welcomes back Greg Olsen, Acting Director of the New York State Office for the Aging. Greg, oversees vital programs serving the state’s growing older-adult population through a network of 59 county-based offices and 1,200 community organizations.
But now, federal funding cuts are looming as Washington seeks ways to reduce spending— potentially slashing support for services that older adults rely upon. What could this mean for New York?
While the New York State Executive Budget includes historic investments in aging services, federal cuts would be cataclysmic. Greg is calling on Congress to protect the Older Americans Act.
Any federal cuts to this program would mean:
✔ Fewer in-home caregiving services for older adults
✔ Cuts to meal programs that help older adults stay nourished
✔ Loss of transportation, education, and nutrition counseling
✔ Staff and service reductions at senior centers – and more!
If you or a loved one rely on these programs, you won’t want to miss this discussion.
