PierrolawIf you are concerned about nursing home safety and the availability of vaccine shots, you won’t want to miss this Life Happens program.
Elder law attorney Lou Pierro and care manager Nora Baratto are joined by Beth Finkel, State Director of AARP New York, the leading advocacy group for the 50+ population.
They discuss AARP New York’s initiatives to improve nursing home safety and access to vaccinations; two issues that literally impact the lives of millions of New Yorkers:
NURSING HOME REFORMS
AARP New York is calling on Governor Cuomo and the State Legislature to include a “Five-Point Nursing Home Reform Plan” in the 2021-22 State Budget. The Plan requires minimum hours of direct care and increased staffing levels, ensures visitation and transparency, restores families’ legal recourse and invests in cost-effective services that help New Yorkers remain at home.
COVID VACCINE FRUSTRATION!
It’s been widely reported that getting a vaccine appointment has been a chore. On the Show, Beth shares findings of AARP New York’s surveys, which have found that less than half of AARP “online activists” reported success in scheduling a COVID-19 vaccine shot.
Listen to this special edition Life Happens podcast to get the latest information on AARP New York’s advocacy with Beth Finkel, along with legal and caregiving updates from Lou and Nora!
