Navigating the medicaid system is a daunting task at the best of times. Trying to care for a loved one simultaneously makes the task overwhelming. Many years ago, my Mom wanted to make sure everything was in order in her financial affairs so it wouldn’t be difficult for us when she got older and needed care and ultimately left us. Lou Pierro was excellent! Just the right touch of professional and down to earth. He inspired confidence and answered all our concerns efficiently and expertly as the years progressed. Lou created a trust that held my Mom’s residence, a shield from many expenses thrust upon the elderly later in life that would potentially destroy her quality of life. Years later, my family met attorney Frank Hemming, Lou’s associate who successfully navigated the horrific NYC Medicaid Application process for my Mom. Honestly, I don’t know what we would have done without Frank’s expertise and persistence. Always available, always getting back to us with answers to our questions and concerns. Lou also supported the effort greatly at that time ,resulting in her getting 24 hour coverage paid through Medicaid!! Sadly, my Mom passed away this past May and so we began a new part of this journey with Lou’s associate, attorney Christine McCann. Christine grieved with us, guided us along the sale of our childhood home, the trust disposition and all the little steps in between along the way. She helped us to expedite the process for the benefit of a family member is a special circumstance. Jennifer Daley also helped us in this regard, making sure the trust releases were perfect, timely and effective. I have recommended Lou and his associates at the firm to friends and relatives and have been so happy I did. In this world of trusts and estates, even being a lawyer myself, I never would have been able to get through this whole process. My sister and I as Trustees and Executrices for my Mom will be forever grateful for all the firm’s assistance!
